During the Amelia Book Island Festival (October 5 -October 8), St. Peter’s hosted one of the seminars. Authors (from left) Claire Matturro, Brad Thor and Steve Berry presented their seminar, Winning Characters, to fans who love a series of books. The authors told how they keep readers coming back for more. Their seminar was held that Saturday, in Room 201 of the Christian Education Building.

AUTUMN PARISH MEETING - 2006
October 8, 2006

Following refreshments, Fr George opened the Fall Parish Meeting with prayer followed by a brief video from the “Godly Play” curriculum, quite effective and well-received.

The first formal order of business was the selection of Diocesan convention delegates and alternates for the upcoming two-year term (’07-’09): delegates selected - Pat Burns and Ben Buck; # 1 and # 2 alternates - Lena Watson and Jim Corbett.

Next, the selection of new Vestry members (to replace retiring members Toby Atkinson, Lynn Grant, Ginger Mock, and Bill Dickson). From the slate of six nominees submitted by the Nominating Committee, the following names were drawn: Norma Norris, Mary Lynn Torchia, Ed Grissom, and Dave Lott. Appreciation was extended to Bob White and Trey Warren for also allowing their names to be submitted.

The final order of business was an introduction and summary of the 2006 Stewardship campaign, which actually began back in August with the highly acclaimed “Regifting Dinner” and the submission of “Time and Talent” elections. Celebration Sunday will be November 12 when all asked to submit (via their ‘07 pledge intentions) their expressions of Thanksgiving for all our many blessings.

In closing, Fr George urged all to be on hand October 12 for the celebration of Pat Burns’ decade-long service contribution as Parish Administrator and to wish her well in her new career as part of Ben Stephens Mortgage Company.

Respectfully,

John Train
Vestry Clerk
