Dear friends – especially those making New Year Resolutions,

Did you know that neither your salvation nor your standing as a beloved child of God is AT ALL dependent on whether or not you attend church on Sundays?

But here’s what does happen when you attend church at St. Peter’s on Sundays:

· You experience world-class preaching.
· You come into the holy presence of God.
· You take part in the Body of Christ re-assembling.
· You partake in the heavenly banquet – receiving the Real Presence of Jesus Christ.
· You avail yourself of numerous opportunities to be formed as a Christian person.
· You show your children/spouse/family/friends that it is a high priority to be here on Sunday.
· You may share a five-star breakfast with some of the finest people in Nassau County.

Sunday morning worship is at the HEART of the life of Episcopal churches. We are people centered in our liturgy, centered in Baptism and Eucharist, centered in gathering and sharing our life together. That’s why worshiping at the golf course doesn’t compare with worshiping at church. By the way, I do believe in worshiping at the golf course – the beauty of God’s creation, the fellowship of the faithful, all the prayers to live (or shoot) the “straight and narrow”.

Following the Apostles’ Creed part, the first part of the Baptismal Covenant is:

Q: Will you continue in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in the prayers?
A: I will, with God’s help.

That’s basically asking – Will you come to church on Sundays, join in the fun, and be part of the family?

Our life together depends on us being together. And we need everyone. We need YOU!!! So – make it a resolution; make it a vow; make it a promise, a priority – ideally, a way of life!

Won’t you decide – right now – to come to church every Sunday (when possible)?
Show yourself, your children, your spouse, and your friends – and God – that you’re serious about this Christian life thing.

Please – join in the fun, be part of the family!!!

Happy New Year! See you Sunday! Peace in Christ,
