A graduate of Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, Father George Young is the Rector at St. Peter’s. In addition to administrative and liturgical responsibilities at St. Peter’s he serves and has served on Diocesan Council, Camp and Conference Center Committee, Chair of the Nominating Committee, and General Convention Deputy.(more about George…)

The monthly letter from the Rector can be found on the front page of each monthly Epistle from St. Peter’s (ESP). You may obtain a PDF version of each ESP on the Publication Page.It has been my joy and honor to grow up in a clergy family, as an Episcopalian in the Diocese of Florida. Through my experiences in church and Sunday School, EYC, 6 years at Episcopal High School, youth retreats, and especially Camp Weed - I have been incredibly nurtured in my relationship with Jesus Christ, and as a member of the Body of Christ, the Church.

I was a Sociology major, with minors in Religion and Psychology at FSU, and spent almost 10 years in the wine business before going to seminary. My mother says, "He used to sell it, and now he gives it away!" Seabury-Western Theological Seminary outside of Chicago is where I received my Masters in Divinity, and I served St. Giles' in Northbrook, Illinois for 2 years while my wife Kammy completed her M.Div. at Seabury. Yes - she's a priest too, and a great one! Kammy and I have 2 children - Georgie and Lucy.

After 5 years as Rector of St. Elizabeth's in north Jacksonville, I was called to be the 22nd Rector of St. Peter's in April 1997. My hope and vision for serving here is to be a stable, loving, generous and inspirational presence, encouraging and inviting people into deeper relationship with Christ - in their individual lives, among their families and friends, and as Christian leaders in this big, wide world.
